Before...
The owners of this Candlewood Lake property in New Fairfield realized there were some big landscape challenges. They were faced with a narrow and steep lot, strewn with giant boulders left over from the last ice age. Nonetheless they loved the expansive view of Candlewood Lake from the house and saw the potential for a fabulous, fun weekend getaway home.
Progress...
We first built a temporary ramp so we could access the site. Then we worked from the bottom up. With permission from First Light who owns the property closest to the water below the “440 line”, we planted a natural buffer garden.
After
The Finished Project
The homeowners wanted a more usable entertainment space, so we extended decking and built patios that complimented the natural stonework of the house’s foundation. An outdoor kitchen was a real bonus and a mid-level gravel terrace added to the places where friends and family could hang out. Finally, a natural set of slab steps made the approach up to the garage and driveway more user-friendly.
